technology is a secretary
technology?hurm... lets me share you a little bit of mine. i’ve been exposed to PC when i was in primary school. yeah. that’s the only techno supposed to be at that time. but, you know, rural areas school, i don’t have such much experienced to explore those gadget in details. I remembered the day my late teacher introduced me to a PC, and it’s just that. nothing. we still used black board and chalks until I choked. :)
Imagine these two situations perhaps they can give you the idea on how technology developed…
Situation 1 (year 1995):
Teacher: an old teacher drives a Nissan Sunny car, walking to a 5 Mawar class, wearing huge and thick glasses, less make-up,loads of books,no techno attached, blabbering from 7.30 a.m to 1.30 p.m. daily dialogue, “Ok class, open your text book, page 12”, “Ok class, open your exercise book A, if wrong, do 100 times correction”- said the teacher.
Pupil: ride a bicycle and bring a heavy duty bag (just like a tourist)
can you imagine how dramatic my school was? uhh.. I’m not portrayed all the teachers in that era were like that, but I think, as a student, with techno, it can help primary kids to move out from a typical learning style to fun and enjoyable learning. =)
Situation 2 (year 2020):
a young teacher walking to a 5 Bestari class, wearing fresh-look contact lens, tans of make-up, vincci high-heels and no blabbering because the speakers do all the talkings from 7.30a.m to 1.30p.m. daily dialogue, “Ok class, close your notebook and pay attention to the smartboard” “Ok class, send me the answers tonight to my email”- said the teacher.
pupils: bring notebook, together with tiny and latest handphone.
Anyway, it’s just my imagination. i mean if technology takes places too much in the classroom, teachers may misuse it. As future teachers, we can’t dependent on technology merely; we still have to combine the traditional method of teaching with technology. So that it will be balanced.
but, do primary kids nowadays knew about this? how lucky they are to be born in the era of techno? and we teachers have to slave ourselves in this course just to provide them with variety teaching aids, with and with bombastic techno? uhh… i think they should thanks us for becoming techno-power-teachers. hik. hik.
the first thing that appears in my mind, and what i called it technology in the classroom is powerpoint! yeah. i do think that's the only "techno" which suitable for primary school kids. but hey dummy, there are more than that. you are too behind the times. now we have smart board and lots of soft ware which scaffold primary kids so much. I have to learn it later..
erm.. primary school kids?.. i think they will love technology if they are exposed to it. i know there are many pros and cons, dos and don’ts in technology, but, forget about it, let’s look in positive ways. Through powerpoint, animated video, they'll love visual presentation as it eye-catching, big, colourful and yeah, interesting. i don’t know how to describe more bout techno as I’m just jump into it and still don’t know how to swim. I wish I can swim freely, independently in the sea of techno and follow the stream as the world evolves at the end of this course. i wish. With techno, everything is in your hands (wah! sounds like celcom advertisement) hehe. Yeah.
Agree with me when I said technology is a secretary for teachers?

well, yeah technology is not an option anymore, right my friend? But the truth fact that it is a need nowadays. By the way, cute examples of situation of yours. =D
hey there
juz dropping by :)
Hi,
your comparison of past and future classrooms got me flashing through my experience and imagining the future classroom. It would indeed be great for teachers and students with the presence of technology especially when students do not have to carry heavy backpacks. yet, it is important that the technology is used in such a way that it does not affect the teacher-student relationship or theteaching-learning process. the best way would be to combine the traditional and the technological aids to assist in the claassroom as they have their own advantages as well as disadvantages.
hi...i agree with you.but it depends on the situation.not all the time the technology is reliable.we do need to console back the traditional method for some reasons. In fact, we must not rely too much on technology..You need backup somehow...
Haha..i know you have already got your allowance..when do you wanna treat me?hehe
that was a good example taht i rely love..
it might be ur imagination, but i believe that it happened and happens somewhere out there..it is true that techno wil help to change the environment of the class and help to fell the class wid enthusiasm,,let's hope for the best.. not to forget about learning how to control it as u said if too much then we might tend to misuse it..so teachers, be wise with ur choice!
I do agree with your point of view. Technology may become the secretary for the teachers. But we have to make sure that technology is not going to be misused.Students still need the teachers to learn..
